A New Bargain

In A New Bargain, I describe the transformation to an AI-powered workplace as a Rubik's Cube for enterprise leaders. The breadth and depth of considerations and challenges - commercial, technical, operational and ethical - create enormous complexity.  It’s not just a matter of complexity though.  The interconnectedness between these elements means that a a decision to advance one area can have an impact, even a consequence, on another. Solve for efficiency, and you may disrupt trust. Focus on cost savings, and you may miss innovation opportunities. Every turn must be considered. It raises social, emotional, and ethical questions that reach far beyond implementation timelines.

In A New Bargain, I argue by liberating employees from workflow and processes, there is an opportunity for that labour capacity and capability to function in identifying opportunities, solving problems creatively, improving outcomes, and driving innovation. Since enterprises  are essentially organised around processes, that this becomes The Great Unlock.

I argue that AI only becomes the great unlock if humans are in the equation. Despite automation, augmentation, and machine intelligence, human beings will remain central to how enterprises operate, make decisions, build culture, and serve customers. Human judgment, trust, adaptability, and creativity are not easily replicated. For the foreseeable future, people and AI will coexist, and that relationship must be designed with care.

A New Bargain is the Minds book in the trilogy representing the intellectual understanding and endorsement of the 'why' underpinning the change.

This encompasses the rational comprehension of the need for change, the logic behind the chosen approach, and the cognitive acceptance of the transformation's necessity.

It is about the perspective of how people enterprises and employees will be challenged to find mutuality amongst the challenges this transformation will bring.

This is the story of gemba in the AI Transformation of work.

It is about the redefining of the psychological contract between employer and employee that will be essential to mutuality at the centre of the AI-powered workplace employment relationship.
